Fitness Class Descriptions

A.B.S.

Abs, back and stretch. A concentrated toning class for the abs and back incorporating standard exercises (abdominal crunch, etc.) with stability ball and Pilates based exercises. Followed by a stretch. All fitness levels welcome.

B.L.T. (Buns, Legs and Thighs)

A total lower body toning workout designed to get maximum results in a short period of time by performing fewer repetitions with more resistance. Uses a variety of equipment such as hand weights, body bars, resistance bands and stability balls. All fitness levels welcome.

Body Sculpt

A total body toning routine performing more repetitions with lower resistance. Hand weights, body bars, resistance bands, and stability balls will be used. Followed by a relaxing stretch. All fitness levels welcome.

New! Cardio Circuit

An easy to follow dancing class using the latest (and vintage) dance moves and music. Different styles of dance will be done each week to include Hip Hop, Latin, Indian, country line dancing and others. All fitness levels welcome.

New! Cardio Dance

An energetic cardiovascular and toning session. No tricky choreography here, just simple yet effective movements from sports, kickboxing and gym class! All fitness levels welcome.

Cycling

A fun and challenging way to exercise on a stationary bicycle that features varying speeds and intensities and some unique motivational techniques. Ends with a cool down, ab exercises and a stretch. Participants should have been involved in some type of exercise/physical activity on a regular basis before attempting thsi class. Note: For your comfort and safety, please arrive to class 10 – 15 minutes early for bike set-ups. Class is limited to 6 participants.

Jiu Jitsu

A martial art made popular in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) by the world famous Gracie family. A cross between Judo and Submission Wrestling, it focuses on fighting and defending oneself on the ground. Classes will start with a warm-up, followed by technique instruction, and practice. All fitness levels welcome.

Kickboxing

Combines punching and kicking choreography with sports drills and simple aerobics moves into an easy to follow cardio workout. All fitness levels welcome.

Pilates

(pronounced pul-LAH-teez) A series of strengthening and stretching exercises designed to improve muscle strength, posture, flexibility and balance. Focuses on mind and body unification and breathing. All fitness levels welcome.

Step and Sculpt

An energetic cardiovascular workout using a step with easy to follow choreography. All fitness levels welcome.

NEW! STX (Savate-Thai-Cross Training) Thaiboxing

Based on Savate and Muay Thai martial arts and will also incorporate other martial arts disciplines such as Kali, Silat, Greco Roman Wrestling, Jun Fan Gung Fu and concepts from Jeet June Do. Class will start with a warm-up, followed by technique instruction and practice. Students will need to purchase their own gloves (about$10), and the gloves will be available for purchase from The Freeman Center.

Yoga

Gentle poses, positions and movements designed to release stress. Focuses on breathing, flexibility, and relaxation. Links breathing with flowing movements, and emphasizes precise alignment. All fitness levels welcome.

NEW! Yogilates

A fusion of yoga and Pilates based exercises for muscle toning, flexibility and relaxation.

Zumba

A new and popular form of cardio fitness classes, combining Latin and international dance and music. Based on simple dance steps. All fitness levels welcome.
